Official Clarification: False Attribution of Intelligence Report to African Security Analysis

African Security Analysis (ASA) has become aware of claims circulating on Somali-language Facebook pages alleging that ASA prepared a three-page intelligence report concerning the killing of Cabdiqani Axmed Dihaal, also known as Dul-Qarnayn, following an attack in Widhwidh on 12 July 2024.

The circulating material attributes to ASA allegations concerning the involvement of Ethiopian intelligence services in the killing.

ASA categorically confirms that it has never authored, prepared, commissioned, published, or distributed any intelligence report concerning this incident.

Any document, publication, or social media post presenting such allegations as findings or conclusions of ASA is falsely attributed to our organization.

ASA has not conducted or published an investigation establishing responsibility for this killing and does not endorse the allegations circulating under its name.

We call upon individuals, social media pages, and other outlets distributing these claims to correct the false attribution and refrain from presenting unverified material as an ASA intelligence assessment.
