
Kenyan officials captured by Al-Shabab in northern Kenya
In Mandera County, located in northeastern Kenya near the borders of Somalia and Ethiopia, Al-Shabab forces carried out a coordinated operation on 3rd February 2025 in the Harazuki area. Between the town of Ceel-qaalow and the city of Wargadud, they successfully captured five Kenyan administrative officials from Mandera.
The captured individuals are:
Cadow Abdulle Mohamed, former chairman of Wargadud town.
Mohamed Noor Haji, chairman of the Jajaboole area.
Abdi Hassan Surre, chairman of the Qurac Madoobe area.
Mohamed Hassan Kulmiye, chairman of the eastern part of Wargadud town.
Ibrahim Gabow Abdulle, deputy chairman of the eastern part of Wargadud town.
The officials, along with their luxury vehicle, are now in the custody of the Al-Shabab.
